You can't buy higher quality art reproductions.

At PAI, we use the same proven art reproduction techniques that have become the new standard of printmaking -- recognized by major museums and art publishers throughout the world. PAI Art Prints match the highest benchmarks of resolution, color fidelity, and archival life span. You can rest assured that regardless of price, there are no higher quality art prints. Here's why.

Modern technology catches up with traditional techniques.
The practice of digital art reproduction is still quite young, dating to about 1991, but the advances made in the last few years are truly stunning. Today, even the most die-hard traditionalist (if they were honest with themselves) would have to admit that a modern Giclee Print presents an absolutely gorgeous rendition of the original art.

Digital Re-Mastering - restoring the artist's vision.
The PAI Printmaking Process starts by creating a digital clone of the original art. The goal is to capture every nuance of the work in a digital file that can be restored without invasive conservation techniques. We don't alter or even touch the original. Depending on the nature of the image, we often scan right down to the actual grain of the substrate (paper, canvas or film emulsion). Then we spend an average of 40 hours on each high-resolution file to restore the image to its original glory, repairing any damage or deterioration.

PAI Giclee Prints are created by a professional ink jet printer that sprays microscopic ink droplets onto the paper or canvas. The size of the ink droplet is varied and applied in a random pattern, giving the Giclee the appearance of a continuous tone print. Because no dot or screen patterns are visible, the apparent resolution is equal to the best lithographs and far superior to offset printing. Plus, recent advances in color systems (inks, software, etc.) have extended the color gamut of Giclee Prints to nearly match serigraph inks. Further, on a Giclee Print, the ink application can be very subtle, picture an air brush controlled by a sophisticated computer.

Digital Photography - extending the range of the darkroom.
PAI Digital Photographs are created by a Chromira digital photographic printer imaging directly to Fujicolor Crystal Archive Paper. This combination is rapidly setting new standards in in both the commercial and art photography. The Chromira use three computer controlled LEDS (instead of an enlarger) to expose the paper from the digitally re-mastered image file. PAI Digital Photographs are sharp edge to edge because the light source is a mere fraction of an inch directly above the photographic paper, moving almost grain by grain to expose the emulsion. Fujicolor Crystal Archive Paper is the most advanced chromogenic film ever produced -- rendering pure whites, clean highlights, and brilliant color reproduction. Its stability characteristics give it the longest life span of any commercially available color paper.

It's the chef (not the oven) that makes the difference.
